From sample planning to publication-ready data

BEVITAL supports the full analytical workflow, from initial project evaluation and analyte or marker selection to sample logistics, targeted analysis, quality control and final data reporting. The workflow helps users understand what happens at each stage and what information is needed to secure reliable, publication-ready results.

Start with a project evaluation

Our team helps you choose the biomarkers and panels that fit your study design, research questions and budget, with minimal sample use. Before any samples are shipped, we go through the points below, usually in one email exchange or a short video call.

  • Your research questions and the design of the project
  • Which biomarkers and panels fit the question
  • Sample type and the volume needed
  • Expected timeline until the analyses are complete
  • Commercial or collaborative contract
  • Contact persons for your project

Before analysis

01

Evaluation

We strongly recommend a project evaluation by email or video call before samples are sent, so you get the most reliable data from your precious biobank samples. Together we go through your research questions, the choice of analytes and panels, sample type and volume, timeline and contract.

Please send us your study design, sample type, number of samples and the timeline you have in mind.

02

Transport

Samples are shipped frozen on dry ice by a recommended courier at an agreed time, so they do not thaw or get lost on the way.

Pack and label the samples, send the sample list and let us know the air waybill number. The shipping checklist has the details.

Sample status: with the courier, frozen on dry ice

03

Storage

On arrival, samples go straight into storage at −80 °C to keep them stable until analysis.

Stability also depends on how samples are handled before shipping. Read more about sample stability.

04

Preparation

Samples are split into aliquots for the different analytical platforms. Automated liquid handling keeps sample consumption to a minimum.

05

Analysis

Samples are analyzed on our targeted platforms. Any remaining material goes back into storage at −80 °C.

Let us know whether remaining material should be returned to you or destroyed.

06

Processing

Mass spectra are processed with our in-house QC software, and results from all platforms are combined in one database.

Quality and results

07

QC

External quality controls from DEKS, DEQAS, KEQAS, ERNDIM and LABQUALITY are included in every sample set. They show how each platform performs and catch assay errors early.

Data status: checked against external controls

08

Reporting

You receive a detailed lab report with all results, assay performance and the reasons for any missing values. Statistical analysis, from basic to advanced, is available on request.

Data status: report sent to you
